Cooperative Federation of Nigeria (CFN) is the Umbrella Body for all cooperatives in Nigeria. It was formed in 1944 as “Nigeria Co-operative Federation Ltd.”
It held its first General Meeting during the Rochdale Centenary Conference at Glover Hall Lagos, from August 8th-10th 1944. The Conference was attended by about 500 delegates representing 400 Co-operative Societies …
The Congress is the highest decision-making organ of Cooperative Federation of Nigeria. The congress is constituted by delegates from each affiliated member. It holds every four years to elect executive members.
The Executive Secretary is the head of the Secretariat. He/Shetakes charge of the administration of the Secretariat. He/She reports to the Board through the CFN President.
Cooperatives are based on the values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity, and solidarity. In the tradition of their founders, cooperative members believe in the ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others.
